The Ultimate Guide to Achieving Healthy Autumn Skin (inside out!)

As the weather shifts from summer to autumn, your skin's needs may change due to cooler temperatures, lower humidity, and other environmental factors. Here are some skincare ingredients (and foods!) that can help you maintain healthy, nourished skin during the autumn months:

1. Hyaluronic Acid: (bone broth!) Autumn weather can be drying, so incorporating hyaluronic acid into your routine can help hydrate and plump your skin by attracting and retaining moisture.

2. Niacinamide: (meat, cereal, fish, eggs, green vegetables!) This multitasking ingredient helps to strengthen the skin barrier, improve the appearance of enlarged pores, even out skin tone, and reduce inflammation, making it great for addressing any summer damage while preparing your skin for the drier autumn air.

3. Vitamin C: (citrus and jojoba oil) Vitamin C is an antioxidant that can help brighten the skin, fade dark spots, and protect against environmental damage like UV rays and pollution. It can also boost collagen production, which may help counteract any summer sun damage.

4. Ceramides: (hemp, jojoba, grapeseed, wheatgrem) Ceramides are lipids that help to maintain the skin barrier, preventing moisture loss and keeping the skin hydrated and healthy. Using products containing ceramides can help fortify your skin against autumn's drying effects.

5. Squalane: We use olive squalane in our Miracle Face Elixir! so potent AND vegan

Squalane is a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturising oil that can help to replenish lost moisture in the skin without clogging pores. It's particularly beneficial in autumn when the air becomes drier.

6. Antioxidants: Most of the oils are rich in natural antioxidants that skin needs for natural boost. Antioxidants like green tea extract, resveratrol, and coenzyme Q10 help to neutralise free radicals, which can damage the skin and accelerate ageing. Incorporating antioxidant-rich products into your skincare routine can help protect your skin from environmental stressors.

7. Gentle Exfoliants: Exfoliation is important year-round, but it's especially beneficial in autumn when dry skin can accumulate more easily. Opt for gentle exfoliants like alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) citric acids (fruit) or sour milk! or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) sugar cane, grapes, almonds! to remove dead skin cells and promote cell turnover without stripping the skin. We use our gentle on skin Miracle Face Cleanser which contains no harsh ingredients meaning your skin will love it this autumn.

8. Moisturising Ingredients: Look for moisturising ingredients like glycerin, shea butter, and ceramides to keep your skin hydrated and supple as the weather gets cooler. We love our luxurious Whipped Mango & Shea body butter as its also one of Matushka's bestsellers!

Remember to listen to your skin and adjust your skincare routine accordingly based on how it's responding to the changing weather conditions. Additionally, always wear sunscreen during the day, even in autumn, as UV rays can still cause damage to your skin.

Always with love, Iveta
